About Us

Accessibility

We have taken accessibility very seriously in the construction of the online library. Our aim is to make the content of the library fully accessible to all users irrespective of disabilities or client software. To meet this aim we have worked to the accessibility guidelines set out by the world wide web consortium (W3C). This site complies fully at Level A, that is to say it should not be impossible for any users to access any of the content of this site. The site also meets many check points for Level AA and Level AAA.

We are seeking to continuously improve the accessibility of the Online Library and we would be glad to hear of any problems our users have encountered with this site. You can use our feedback form to tell us about any problems you have encountered. We have built some accessibility features into this site that you will need to know a little about to exploit fully.

Please note that some of the web sites that we link to may not conform to accessibility guidelines. If you need help accessing any of the resources on this database please contact us by telephone on +44 (0)20 7862 8478 or by email at OnlineLibrary@shl.lon.ac.uk.

Access Keys

This site makes use of "access keys", that is to say keyboard shortcuts that make it easier to navigate the site. PC users should press ALT + one of the following numbers, Mac users should press CTRL + the relevant number:

NB Internet Explorer for Windows users: shortcuts to links will take you to a link but you will then need to press the Enter key to activate the link.

PDF Files

We provide some guides in PDF format, for which you will need the Adobe Acrobat reader. You can download Acrobat Reader free of charge from the Adobe web site. Please note Adobe offer an online conversion tool (from PDF to HTML) if you have trouble accessing PDF files.
